Indian Government Will Not Rollback the Agnipath Scheme

The Indian defence ministry has now confirmed that the government will not rule-back the decisions taken on the Agnipath scheme.

The Agnipath scheme which is explained in our earlier video is facing a massive backlash by aspirants protesting and destroying the public property around the country. However, when some of the opposition leaders were seen supporting the aspirants by asking the government to take back the Agnipath scheme, most of the defense experts believed that it will help Indian defense to reach a new standard. The protests were going on for almost 5 days.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met with the chiefs of the Army, Navy & the Air Force and had a meeting with them twice on saturday & sunday.  A few hours after their meeting yesterday, the chiefs of all the 3 forces held a press conference and said, ‘There will be no rollback of the Agnipath scheme, and it was a long planned decision which has been implemented now.’  Lt Gen Anil Puri, the top military officer in charge of the scheme. He said, "Today, a large number of jawans are in their 30s and we need youthfulness in the services.”  The recruits in the scheme would get the same allowance as soldiers in areas like Siachen, Ladakh. There will be no discrimination against them. In the press conference it was also said that the Agnipath scheme will recruit 50,000-60,000 aspirants initially every year. Also for the batch number 1 registration process will start from 24th June 2022 and by 24th July 2022. The first batch would be enrolled by December and training would start by December 30.
With the latest press conference, it has been cleared that the government of India has no plans of taking back the Agnipath scheme despite protests which are being held around the nation.
