India's First Air Taxi Service Launched In Chandigarh

Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated India's first Air Taxi service at the Chandigarh Airport. The service was launched under the UDAN scheme of the government.

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated India's first Air Taxi service at the Chandigarh Airport. The flight will be able to seat 4 people. 

Manohar Lal Khattar said, “For the first time in the country, a small aircraft in the form of an air taxi is being used for services.” He also revealed that in the first phase the Air Taxi services were launched from Chandigarh to Hisar. In the second phase of the project, a flight from Hisar to Dehradun will also be started from 18th January. In the third phase, Chandigarh to Dehradun and Hisar to Dharamsala will be started on 23rd January. Later on, there are plans to add Shimla, Kullu and more places in Haryana.

The service is being run by AirTaxi India got the commuter airline permit from the DGCA in December. The launch of the service under the UDAN RCS is in sync with the government's commitment to providing air connectivity with metros to smaller cities. The government gives a subsidy per seat to air carriers to connect small towns and cities.
