Hijab Row: Karnataka Govt Opens Schools From Monday

Karnataka High Court adjourned the hearing of the Hijab issue petition till February 14.

As you all may know we had released a video regarding the hijab row that is going in Karnataka. The Karnataka High Court was supposed to make a decision on whether or not to allow hijabs in schools and colleges. Now the Karnataka High Court bench adjourned (postponed) the hearing of the Hijab issue to Monday - February 14. The Karnataka HC said that they will directly announce the final decision and no short term decision will be made. Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Ritu Raj Awasthi has said that schools and Colleges in Karnataka can reopen but students cannot be allowed to wear any piece of clothing that is religious till the court announces final decision. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai chaired a meeting Thursday 10 Feb evening. The CM said has decided to open high schools (std 1-10) in the state from Monday, February 14. An announcement regarding the opening up of schools for classes 11 and above will be made later. While addressing an election rally in UP, PM Modi commented on the hijab issue but in an indirect day.

Modi said, ‘The Yogi Adityanath BJP  government has consistently worked towards preventing crimes against Muslim women. By banning the practice of triple talaq, the BJP government has ensured justice for Muslim women. However whenever the BJP want to do good for Muslim women, the opposition parties, always create problems and instigate the Muslim community against the BJP.

Whenever the BJP does something good, the opposition creates problems and comes in the way of the women’s progress because they want votes.” Even Aditya Thackeray reacted to the COVID stats saying, "Wherever there is a uniform at schools, there should not be a place for any other dress other than that. Schools and colleges are the Centres of education, only education should be imparted there. No political, religious or any such thing should be brought at schools and colleges. Shiv Sena has only one role and that is to provide top class education facilities at schools."

Many political parties and organisations are saying that Hijabs must be allowed and muslim women must be given a chance to decide for themse. Some even say that by not allowing hijabs, many Muslim households may not allow their girls to get educated. This may lead to more oppression of the Muslim women and have a negative imapact on their development. To know more updates on the hijab row, make sure you keep watching ISH News.
