Hardik Pandya Clarifies On 'Rs 5 Crore Watch Seized' By Airport Customs. Watch our latest video to know more.

Hardik Pandya was returning from Dubai after India wrapped up its stint at the T20 World Cup. A report by news agency ANI said that two watches worth Rs 5 crore were seized by the Customs Department on Sunday 15 Nov night as Pandya did not have bills for them and refused to pay duty. Denying the charges, Mr Pandya posted a statement on Twitter saying :

“Wrong perceptions have been floating around on social media regarding the customs at the Mumbai airport and my watches. I would like to clarify what transpired. I had lawfully purchased 2 watches from Dubai. The cost of the watch is approximately ? 1.5 crore and not ? 5 crore as per the rumours floating around on social media. I'm a law-abiding citizen of the country and I respect all government agencies. When I reached Mumbai airport I myself went to the Customs Department and showed them the watches. I even showed them the bills for the watch. Now the customs is calculating the correct duty on the watch. Once they decide what the amount is I will pay it. I've received all the cooperation from the Mumbai customs department and I've assured my full cooperation to them and will provide them with whatever legitimate documents they need to get this matter cleared. I have not broken any law.”  Hardik Pandya's brother, cricketer Krunal Pandya was also intercepted at the Mumbai International Airport over suspicion of being in possession of undisclosed gold and other valuables last year.
