Deaf Hotelier Roberto Wirth Owner of Hassler Hotel Passes Away

Roberto Wirth was the owner of the historic Hotel Hassler in Rome, Italy. It is just a few meters from the Church of the Trinità dei Monti, a famous church in Rome. It is one of the most famous hotels in the world. Robert was born Deaf and he was responsible for managing this famous hotel. He has been a strong role model for the Deaf Community due to his achievements. He has now died of a heart attack. The announcement was made by one of his sons, Roberto jr. His other child is named Verushka. The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 11am at Trinità dei Monti. Robert always had a dream since he was a child: to manage a hotel all by myself and become a great hotelier. He studied and trained in Milan and also at Cornell University in the USA. This helped him become a great businessman. With his determination, always keeping his goal in mind, he managed to make the Hassler hotel the most famous hotel in the world. 

 

His motto was "Never give up". He worked very hard and then, over the years, he managed to expand and develop the family business. He started 5 hotels and completely managed it on his own. He also had a NGO through which he supported the Deaf and Deafblind children. He also established a scholarship to Deaf students to specialize at Gallaudet University, Washington DC (USA). Gallaudet University is the only bilingual university in the world (American Sign Language and English). 

 

The Deaf Community has lost a strong leader, role model and business. However he will always be remembered through his work.
