Chinese Troops Withdraw from Galwan Valley

After growing tensions at the LAC, Chinese troops have withdrawn and retreated back into Chinese territory.

Due to the tensions between India and China at the LAC, National security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi had a meeting to disengage the situation. Now, both Chinese and Indian troops are withdrawing by 2 km from three spots in Ladakh - Galwan Valley, Hot Springs and Gogra - leaving a buffer zone in between. The Chinese are not on Indian territory and are on their side of the LAC.

Satellite images from 28th June show that the Chinese had built tents and shelters for their soldiers. However, satellite images from 6th July show the area is empty and all the structures have been removed. This confirms that the Chinese have withdrawn their troops and gone back to their territory. Indian Government officials say that just because India and China do not agree on certain topics, does not mean they will continue fighting. Both countries are hoping to complete the disengagement process soon at the border.
