Bollywood Files Case Against News Channels
More than 30 leading Bollywood filmmakers have filed a case against two top news channels for coverage of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death case investigation.
Since the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, news channels are continuously covering the news and reporting the various angles related to the case. Now more than 30 leading Bollywood filmmakers have filed a case in the Delhi High Court against two top news channels namely Republic TV’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and its Consulting Editor Pradeep Bhandari and Times Now, and its prominent anchors Rahul Shivshankar and Navika Kumar. They have filed the case regarding the coverage of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death case investigation.Famous celebrities Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Karan Johar are part of the case. As per reports the case is filed by four film industry associations and 34 production companies owned by Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Kabir Khan, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Rohit Shetty and Vishal Bhardwaj, and others.
The filmmakers said these channels as well as social media platforms should refrain from making or publishing derogatory and defamatory remarks against Bollywood and its members. The filmmakers alleged that when News channels use derogatory terms such as dirt, scum , druggies, cocaine drenched Bollywood etc. There is a media trial against Bollywood.
Filmmakers have demanded that the channels follow rules and withdraw defamatory content against Bollywood. The filmmakers added that Bollywood is a well-recognized industry, which is a huge source of revenue generation and employment for the country. Recently the News Broadcasting Standard Authority (NBSA) took action against many news channels. Aaj Tak was fined Rs. 1 lakh, channels like India TV, ZEE News and News24 were asked to apologize.
