Actor Sahil Khan Arrested in Mahadev Betting App Case

The Mumbai Police arrested Bollywood actor Sahil Khan on 27th April 2024 from Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh in the Mahadev betting app scam.

The Mahadev betting app scandal continues to grip the entertainment industry as Bollywood actor Sahil Khan finds himself in legal turmoil. The 47-year-old actor, known for his roles in popular films like 'Style' and 'FALTU', was arrested by the Mumbai Police from Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, on April 27th, 2024, after evading authorities.

The saga began in November 2023 when social activist Prakash Bankar filed an FIR against the Mahadev betting app and several actors, including Khan, for allegedly promoting illegal betting activities. Bankar's complaint accused Khan of using social media platforms to lure unsuspecting individuals into investing in betting apps.

Following the FIR, the Mumbai Crime Branch summoned Khan and three of his associates for questioning in December 2023. Khan denied any direct involvement with the gambling platform during interrogation. However, subsequent investigations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) revealed Khan's promotion of other betting apps affiliated with Mahadev, such as Khiladi Book and Lotus Book 24/7, on various online platforms. It was also discovered that Khan held a stake in the Lotus Book 24/7 app and participated in its events.

In a bid to evade arrest, Khan applied for pre-arrest (interim) bail in the Bombay High Court, which was rejected on the grounds of his direct connection with online betting activities. Subsequently, Khan absconded from Mumbai, prompting a 40-hour-long search by the Mumbai Police. He was eventually apprehended in Jagdalpur.

During Khan's arrest, authorities seized his mobile phones, laptops, and other electronic devices, valued at ?15,000 crore, to track communications and illegal transactions between Khan, app owners/operators, and other Mahadev betting app promoters.

In a parallel development, actress Tamannaah Bhatia was summoned by the Maharashtra cyber cell for allegedly promoting watching IPL matches on the Fairplay betting app, another subsidiary of the Mahadev betting app. The illegal streaming of matches on the Fairplay App reportedly caused significant financial losses to Viacom.

As the investigation into the Mahadev app scandal unfolds, various investigative agencies continue to scrutinize the app for its alleged involvement in illegal transactions and betting activities. Stay tuned to ISH News for further updates on this developing story and the latest events worldwide.
