A Father-Daughter Duo Cycle 657 KM to Mahakumbh!

Devotees cycled hundreds of kilometers to reach Mahakumbh Mela, showcasing their faith and promoting cycling for health and environmental conservation.

The ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj has attracted millions of devotees from across the country, all eager to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. With heavy traffic causing delays, some devotees have chosen unique ways to reach the festival. Among them are inspiring cyclists who have pedaled hundreds of kilometers, not just to fulfill their spiritual journey but also to spread important messages about health and the environment.  

Father-Daughter Duo Cycles 675 km from Delhi  

Umesh Pant and his daughter Anupama Pant from Delhi embarked on a remarkable 675 km bicycle journey to reach the Mahakumbh Mela. Anupama planned the trip, and her father supported her throughout. They halted at various cities for food and rest, taking several days to complete the journey. After reaching Prayagraj, they took the holy dip at the Sangam and shared their belief that cycling can reduce pollution and promote a healthier lifestyle.  

Their journey not only showcased their devotion but also highlighted the environmental benefits of cycling.  

Odisha Man Cycles 1,800 km from Bengaluru  

Nandighosa Khamari, a resident of Odisha, took his commitment to cycling even further. He began an All India tour in September 2022, cycling across 28 states and covering 20,000 km. His final destination was Bengaluru, where he arrived in mid-January 2025. Inspired by the Mahakumbh Mela, he decided to cycle another 1,800 km from Bengaluru to Prayagraj.  

Nandighosa completed this journey in 18 days, carrying a tent and essentials to camp at petrol stations along the way. His mission is to promote cycling as a way to stay healthy and reduce environmental damage. For him, the Mahakumbh Mela is not just a religious event but also an opportunity to raise awareness about preserving nature.
