40,000 Passengers Fined Rs1 crore in Mumbai Trains

More than 40,000 commutes, who were not fully vaccinated, were fined worth 1 crore for ticketless travelling in the Mumbai Local trains.

As per the latest rules of the Railways, the rules of the Mumbai local train permit only those with double dose of Covid-19 vaccine to travel by local trains 14 days after their second jab. After the rules were changed a week ago, 3 lakh general commuters with double jabs were traveling in the local trains. How many people broke the rules and travelled in trains even though they were not fully vaccinated. Since 16 August the railways caught more than 40,000 commuters, who were not fully vaccinated travelling in trains without tickets. The total fine collected from such people was Rs 1 crore. Among those fined were also commuters who were daily wage earners, who don’t want to buy monthly passes at all. An official added that on an average 40 unvaccinated passengers without ticket are caught everyday.
