Sindhu Becomes 1st Indian to Win World Championships

PV SIndhu has made history by becoming the first Indian to win the Badminton World Championship.

24-Year-Old, PV Sindhu from Hyderabad is a very famous Indian Badminton Player. For two years in 2016 and 2017, she participated in the World Badminton Championship (WBC). Both the times she reached the Finals and lost. She has won 5 gold medals in the WBC. This is the highest number of gold medals won by any woman in history. The 2019 World badminton championship was held in Basel, Switzerland. She reached the WBC final and played against Japan’s Okuhara. 

 

This was a very quick match. It only lasted 37 mins. During these 37 mins, Sindhu played very aggressively. She was determined to win. Sindhu won by 21-7 points. Sindhu was very happy. She said that she has become a National Champion. Then she corrected herself and said that no she is a World Champion. She said that it feels like a dream and can’t believe that she won. India is very proud of you Sindhu! Congrations!
