Cyclone Maha & Bulbul to Hit India

The India Meteorological Department has warned that cyclone Maha will hit Gujarat and Maharashtra in the next week.

The IMD (India Meteorological Department) said that the Cyclone Maha will hit Gujarat tomorrow on 7th November. The Cyclone will  pass over Diu and Porbandar and will have winds of up to 90 kmph.Cyclone Maha is expected to cause widespread rainfall in Gujarat. Junagarh, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surat, Bharuch, Anand, Ahmedabad, Botad, Porbandar, Rajkot and Vadodara are expected to get heavy rainfall due to the effects of Cyclone Maha.

Coastal and northern Maharashtra, including Mumbai and Thane will receive rainfall as well. The IMD has warned of strong winds and rough sea conditions along the coast of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Fishermen have been advised not to venture out to sea.The IMD also said that electricity and mobile, phone lines may be cut as well.  

On Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi attended a meeting to check preparations for Cyclone Maha.The Indian Navy said it has sent four ships loaded with material to help people. They have kept planes and helicopters ready to give help. 

Another cyclone called cyclone Bulbul has started to form near the Bay of Bengal. The IMD said it is not sure when the cyclone bulbul will reach India. They are saying it may come to the coast of Odisha, West Bengal and Bangladesh.
