Pune Girl Wins Rs 9.1 Lakh for Sleeping 9 Hours a Day!
UPSC aspirant wins ?9.1 lakh by sleeping 9 hours a night—India's most unique internship is back!
Meet Pooja Wavhal, a UPSC aspirant from Pune who just won ?9.1 lakh by doing something we all wish we could get paid for—sleeping! She has been crowned India’s “Sleep Champion of the Year” in the 4th season of the Wakefit Sleep Internship, a fun and health-focused campaign run by mattress brand Wakefit to promote the importance of good sleep.
Launched in 2019, this unique internship challenges selected participants to sleep for 9 hours every night for 60 to 100 days using Wakefit products and sleep trackers. Participants take part in sleep-related activities, score points based on consistency and quality, and at the end—win big.
From thousands of entries, only 15 are selected. All who complete the internship win ?1 lakh, but the top sleeper wins the grand prize—and this time, Pooja took the crown with a sleep score of 91.36.
This fun-yet-serious initiative highlights India's growing sleep issues, with surveys showing that 58% of Indians sleep after 11 PM and nearly half wake up feeling tired. Wakefit hopes to change that by reminding everyone that sleep is not just rest—it’s essential for healing.
Applications for Season 5 are now open! So, if you're 22+, ready to commit to good sleep, and think you can nap like a champ—this could be your moment to shine!
