How to Stop Craving Junk Food?

French fries, burgers, pizzas, samosas, pakoras, cakes, chocolates, Sodas are just so yummy right? When you crave such food it is very difficult to control ourselves. So we just end up eating whatever we want. But after you finish eating you don’t feel very good. You feel very full, sometimes the junk food gives you digestion problems like gas, acidity, it affects your stamina and you just feel so bad. You think I wish I did not eat that. I wish I had eaten something. I am sure you all are nodding your heads in agreement. Junk food is extremely unhealthy for you - not only does it make you fat, it can bring along life-threatening conditions like heart disease, diabetes, etc.So, if you're trying to quit junk food, here are five tips that can help.

  1. Drink Water 

If you feel a sudden craving for junk or processed foods, try drinking a glass of water and wait for a few minutes. This will help stop eating junk food. We often confuse thirst with hunger.Aim to drink at least 8-12 glasses of water every day to stay properly hydrated.

  1. Eat healthy:

Make sure you eat proper meals throughout the day. If you eat the right portions at the right time you will not get hungry and eat junk food. Eat fibrous foods such as whole wheat chapatis, nuts, fruits and oats. Also eat a lot of protein such as eggs, diary items(cheese,paneer,etc) fish, green vegetables etc. By eating this you fill remain full for a longer time. 

  1. Reduce stress:

Stress has a big effect on our mood. Because of stress cravings increase. Whenever people are stresses they start craving junk food. They feel if they eat it feel better. This becomes a habit of the mind and it is very harmful for the mind. Try to reduce stress by doing meditation, yoga and doing whatever you love. 

  1. Sleep Well: When people do not sleep well, they become hungry at the wrong time. The hunger pattern completely changes and they get stronger cravings. If you sleep well, your body will get hungry at the right time and you won’t get cravings as well. So sleep for at least 7-9 hrs a day. 

  2. Plan Your Meals:

Plan your daily means in advance. Have you ever gone to office, schools or colleges without your lunch or snack box? When we do not have our dabbas with us we become very hungry. We start scrolling on food delivery Apps and get very tempted by all the junk food. If you plan your meals in advance and this will not happen. Make the right food decisions and you will live a healthy life. Nothing is difficult. You just have to decide and follow and everything will happen.
