World Youth Deaf Badminton Championship: India Wins 9 Medals

Indian players shine at World Deaf Badminton Championships with multiple medals, including a gold in mixed doubles.

The 3rd World Deaf Youth Badminton Championship was held in Para de Minas in Brazil from 10th July 2023 to 12 July 2023. India bagged four silver and five bronze medals in the championship. What a proud moment. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) tweeted, "Team India won a total of 9 medals at the 3rd World Deaf Youth #Badminton Championships, held in Brazil from 10th - 12th July, 2023. Congratulations to all," It was a successful campaign for India as Soumyadeep and Shreya bagged three medals each including a silver medal each. Aaditya, Piyush, Jerlin and Gauranshi figured in two medals each. After this championship, the 6th World Deaf Badminton Championship is going on from 14th July to 25th July 2023 at the same place. A few of these players from the youth team would go on to participate in the World Deaf Badminton Championship as well. During the World Deaf Badminton Championship’s mixed doubles final (one male and one female), the Indian representatives faced Japan and completely dominated their opponents, without giving them a chance to settle down and give some fightback. The Indian team finished the match with a scoreline of 3-1. It earned the Indian team a hard-fought and a truly-deserving gold medal. SAI Twitter handle acknowledged the effort of the Indian team at this event. The Indian deaf badminton team's performance in the mixed team event is a matter of pride for the nation. Not only has the country been moving forward in sports in general, but it's para- and special athletes have also been making waves.
