World Cup 2019 : India vs Bangladesh

India has defeated Bangladesh and secure a place for themselves in the semi-finals.

India won the toss and chose to bat. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave India the best start. They scored 180 runs. It is the highest opening partnership of the tournament. Rohit Sharma was dropped at 9 runs. Which came back to haunt Bangladesh as he got to a score of 104. He has now become the first Indian, and the second person after to ever score four centuries in a single World Cup. Kumar Sangakara from Sri Lanka  was the first person to score four centuries in the 2015 World Cup. 

After Sharma & Rahul’s wicket, the Indian team did not bat very well. After the two openers were lost India only managed to score 134 runs in 124 balls losing 9 wickets. Rishabh Pant managed scored 48 runs.  With the help of MS Dhoni who scored 35 runs, India made 314-9 in 50 overs.However, they could have easily scored 350. 

When India came out to bowl high hopes were on Mohammad Shami and Bhuvenashwar Kumar who was returning from injury. While Bangladesh looked to be in good form and they were capable of winning. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals and not being able to keep a solid partnership going. Shakib Al Hassan is considered the best All-Rounder in the world. He scored 66 runs. He has become the second player to score six fifties at a time in the World Cup. Sachin Tendulkar has the same record. Jusprit Bumrah took 4-55. He took two wickets in the in the last two balls of the 47th over. Bangladesh was all out at 48 overs and scored 286 runs. India winning by 28 runs. 

India has now secured a place in the semi-finals. However, they have one game against Sri Lanka Saturday 6th July. India and Australia have qualified for the semi-finals. England, New Zealand and Pakistan are the other 3 teams fighting for the last two spots.  

The most amazing moment of the match was 87- year old India fan Charulata Patel who would celebrate every wicket and boundary. She became a hit in the crowd and stadium. After the win, they brought her onto the field to meet with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma she gave them her blessings. Virat Kohli tweeted pictures with her and thanked her for her support and said she is the most passionate fan he has ever met.
