Will Airlines Allow Pets Inside the Flight?

The country’s new airline Akasa Air will allow carrying domesticated dogs and cats onboard along with passengers from November.

Although there is no better feeling than having a loving pet, travelling with your cat or dog while you plan your vacations around India is a task. However, now, the newly launched Akasa airlines by  Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has brought an end to this problem for most of the pet parents in the country.The country’s new airline, Akasa Air, which began operations on 7th of August, will allow carrying domesticated Dogs and cats onboard along with passengers from November. However, in the cabin, the pets should weigh not more than 7 kgs. Pets above 7kg will be allowed in cargo. However, a fee amount needs to be paid if you want to carry your pets on board. The fee amount to take the pets onboard the Akasa Air flights would be announced shortly.

The first available Akasa Air flight with pets permitted onboard will take off on 1st of November. The bookings for the same will start on 15 October. The airline also plans to launch international operations in the second half of the next year. Currently, it has a fleet of six planes and the number is expected to touch 18 by March next year. Akasa Air has become the second commercial Indian carrier to permit passengers to travel with their pets. Earlier, Air India was the only commercial airline in the country which allowed pets on board with specific weights. What do you think about this decision taken by the Akasa airlines?
