Now there are updates and some shocking revelations. Manoj Sane gave multiple stories to the police about Vaidya’s death and kept changing his statement. It was initially reported that Saraswati Vaidya was an Orphanage and was in a live-in relationship with Manoj Sane. However, 3 sisters of Saraswati have come forward. Saraswati Vaidya’s parents separated when she was young. She has four sisters. After her parents separated, Saraswati stayed with her mother, but she passed away a few years later. Following her mother's death, Saraswati was admitted to an orphanage in Ahmednagar. She studied in a school in Ahmednagar and resided in the ashram for over ten years. When she turned 18, she left the ashram and stayed with her sister in Aurangabad for four years and then moved to Mumbai. In Mumbai, she came in contact with Manoj Sane who helped Saraswati secure a job. Saraswati was facing difficulties finding accommodation in Mumbai, and then Sane offered her his own flat in Borivali where she stayed for a while, and during this time, the two fell in love and decided to marry. They married in a temple but did not register the marriage as they were ashamed of their age gap. Saraswati also informed her sister about the temple marriage. For the past 6 - 7 years, the couple has been residing in Mira Road. However she often visited the orphanage with Sane and would introduce Manoj as her ‘mama’.
The police will now conduct a DNA match to identify the woman’s body parts with that of the sister. After police arrested Sane, he told police that Saraswati was like his daughter and that he was helping her clear her SSC examination. He also claimed that he is HIV Positive and had no physical relationship with her. A police officer said that they will conduct his HIV test. Whatever the result, it won't affect the case. However, the sisters have informed that Sane was married to Saraswati. Earlier Sane said that on 3rd June 2023, Saraswati consumed poison and died by suicide. Sane claimed he was frightened and thought the police would frame him for Saraswati's murder and so he disposed of the body by chopping and boiling it in the cooker. Subsequently, however, he told the police that the two had had a fight as he suspected her of infidelity, and he stabbed her with a knife and then used the electric saw to cut her up. Police have also learnt that the accused used to assault Saraswati and they will enquire the same with the sisters.
Police found three buckets inside the kitchen of the flat, which had chopped body parts and blood inside them. Sane also boiled the body parts in a pressure cooker and hid a few parts in the buckets. Many cans of air fresheners were also found in different rooms in the flat which the accused had used to hide the stench. Sane visited a shop on 4th June to get his tree-cutting chainsaw repaired. The same chainsaw was suspected to be used to chop up Saraswati's body. The shopkeeper said that he did not look scared or nervous. Since the accused had chopped Vaidya's body, including her head, the police found it hard to identify the body. The DNA test is expected to help the police acquire crucial evidence in the case. The remains of the woman will be handed over to her sisters for last rites as per their wish once DNA testing and other formalities are over.
