UK Approves Widespread Use of Pfizer Vaccine

Britain has become the first country to approve Pfizer-BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine for general use from next week.

On 2nd December 2020 Britain became the first country to approve Pfizer-BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine for general use. The Pfizer vaccine has been proven to be 95% effective. Britain will start vaccinating people against COVID-19 with the Pfizer vaccine next week. The department of Health said, “The vaccine will be made available across the UK from next week with priority groups including care home residents, health and care staff. Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said, “This authorization is a goal we have been working toward since we first declared that science will win. He also applauded the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for their conducting a careful assessment of the vaccine and taking action to help protect the people of the U.K.

He added that hopefully we will get other authorizations and approvals and we are focused to safely supply a high-quality vaccine around the world. The United States, which has pre-ordered 100 million doses, and Europe, which has bought 200 million, are also expected to approve the vaccine within weeks. Japan has approved a Bill, which states that all Japanese residents will receive free coronavirus vaccines.
