Karan Mehra is a famous TV actor who worked in the TV serial ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’. He is married to Nisha Rawal who is also a TV actor. They have been married for 14 years. Nisha Rawal and Karan Mehra have a four-year-old son Kavish. On Monday 31st May night, Nisha Rawal filed a police complaint against her husband Karan Mehra for allegedly assaulting her. Following the complaint, Karan was arrested by the Goregaon police. He was released on Bail on 1st June. Speaking to the media, Nisha opened up and revealed what actually happened on 31st may night. She said that she recently found out that her husband Karan Mehra was having an affair. While earlier, she felt it was a fling, on confronting him, Karan accepted that he was in love with someone else. She said, “While I was broken at this revelation, I tried to work things out, but he was not interested. He neither showed any guilt. That’s when I thought it was better to get divorced.” She said that Karan had been putting off discussing the alimony that has to be paid to Nisha after the divorce. Since Nisha’s brother was at their home, they decided to have the discussion and decide on the alimony amount. Nisha said, during the discussion, Karan and Nisha had a major argument, with Karan using some unsavoury words. She said, “Karan grabbed me by my hair and smashed my head on the wall. Before I could even realise I was bleeding, he pinned me against the wall holding me by my neck. I actually cried out to him asking why he hates me so much.” Nisha further shared that she still loves Karan and was only trying her best to save their marriage. She revealed that he had hit her multiple times in the past, but she never raised a voice. She said, “Everyone used to think that because he had a good boy in his TV serial, people thought in real life also he was the same. I never told people about him hitting me because I did not want it to affect his work. But when he hit me that night, I realised I had to take a stand for myself as I don’t want my son to think his mother was weak. No one can abuse someone physically and mentally so much,” She shared that her only concern was her child’s future and his higher education. She also said that Karan seemed not interested about the custody of his son and even suggested he would let Kavish grow with his parents as he would be busy with work.

Once Karan was released from bail, even he spoke to the media, but his version of the story was completely opposite to Nisha’s. The actor said that her brother demanded a huge alimony amount, which was not possible for him to pay. Nisha, as per him, also gave him a huge list of things in demand. After not coming to a conclusion, Karan said he told them that they will talk about it later or let the court decide. She apparently started abusing him and his family and even spat on him as well. According to karan, she then smashed her head on the wall, and told everyone that he did it. He said, “She & her brother also started recording footage on the phone to frame me. Her brother hit me and even threatened to kill me and my family.” 

Responding to Karan’s allegations that she hurt herself to implicate him, Nisha said that she is an actor and would never do anything to harm herself physically. “This is my bread and butter. Why would I do it?”
