The Negativity Around Ram Mandir Inauguration

Ram Mandir celebrations face opposition with Rahul Gandhi, Mumbai riots, Mamata Banerjee's criticism, Shiv Sena's discontent, and Bollywood stars missing invitations.

While most of us are happy & celebrating the return of Shri Ram to Ayodhya after 500 years in the form of Ram Mandir Pran Pratishta, there are some who aren’t very happy with the joyous occasion. Multiple incidents of non-support for BJP initiated Ram Mandir and even violence were seen in the last 2 days.

1.  Rahul Gandhi

BJP opponent and Congress member Rahul Gandhi got angry at the public chanting Jai Shri Ram & BJP supportive slogans in Jamugurihat, Assam. Rahul Gandhi was on his 4th day of touring Assam under Congress initiated 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' campaign. The video of the same was posted by the head of the BJP's IT cell, Amit Malviya on X (Twitter) with the caption “Rahul Gandhi lost his cool after Jai Shri Ram and Modi Modi slogans were raised in his presence. If this is how rattled he is, how will he face the people of this country in days ahead, after the anti-Hindu Congress rejected the invitation to be part of the Pran Pratistha in Ayodhya”. He along with Sonia Gandhi & most of the Congress members had denied Ram Mandir inauguration invitation.

2. Mumbai’s Mira Road Riots

A clash broke out between members of Hindu & Muslim communities during a vehicle rally in Mira Road of Mumbai. Tension gripped the area at around 10.30 pm on Sunday when a group of 10 to 12 people in cars and on motorcycles were taking out a rally from Naya Nagar of Mira Road chanting slogans in praise of Lord Ram. Some also burst firecrackers, following which a group of locals came out with wooden sticks. They had an argument with the participants and attacked their vehicles. Local police had to intervene and 13 were arrested.

3. Mamata Banerjee’s Remark

On the day of ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of “saffronising everything” and doing anything to ensure votes at her interfaith rally in Kolkata. She said “Ramakrishna will remain but some people will sell the country for votes,” She made the statement shortly after PM Modi inaugurated the Ram Mandir. CM Banerjee also announced that BJP “is anti-women” because it talks about only Lord Ram but not about Goddess Sita. She said “They “(BJP) talk about Lord Ram, but what about Goddess Sita? She was all along with Lord Ram during his exile (Vanvaas). They don’t speak about her as they are anti-women.”

4. Shiv Sena’s Comment

While all the invitees received the invitation by hand, Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackery received it by speed post just 2 days before the mega event. Shiv Sena member Sanjay Raut said “You are giving a special invitation to the celebrities and film stars. They had nothing to do with Ram Janmabhoomi, But you are treating the Thackeray family this way? Thackeray had played a major and important role in the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation. Lord Ram will not forgive you and will curse for this. You are praying to Lord Ram and running the government like Ravana.” Earlier, Uddhav Thackeray had also said that Atal Setu doesn't have Atal ji statue, will Ram Mandir have Shri Ram statue? After the inauguration of Atal Setu by PM Modi on 12th January 2024.
Apart from these, there were a lot of speculations about the who and why certain people did and did not receive the invitations. Prominent Bollywood superstars Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh & Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar did not receive the invitations.
