South African Captain Dean Elgar Says Virat Kohli Spat at Him

Kohli spat at Elgar during a match, but they reconciled later, with Kohli displaying sportsmanship in Elgar's final game by gifting a signed Test jersey.

Virat Kohli is not only India's most favorite cricketer but the whole world likes him. He has made the whole India proud by making new records in the world of Cricket. But recently, news about Virat’s ‘not so good’ behavior has come to light. Former South African (SA) skipper Dean Elgar has claimed that Kohli "spat at him" during a test match of one of South Africa's tours of India in a local South African sports podcast named ‘Banter, with The Boys’ hosted by former SA sports players. During the podcast, Elgar said, "In India...I came in to bat and I was actually like holding my own against Ashwin and what's his name…’Jadeja', and Kohli, he like spat at me." Elgar replied to Kohli by saying "If you do that, I'll f*****g *** you with this bat on this field. I'll absolutely knock you out'." When One of the hosts asked Elgar if Virat understood the local slang/word referring to the beeped out word, Elgar said “Yes, he did because (A.B.) de Villiers was his teammate in RCB so he understood. Kohli replied “Hey F*** you, F*** you’ to Elgar. Elgar said he didn’t take the clash ahead because he was being “a little bit cautious as they were in India”. Elgar also revealed that Kohli apologized to him two years later, after Kohli’s good friend & RCB’s teammate A.B. de Villiers found out about the incident & discussed the matter with him but Elgar did not specify exactly when de Villiers discussed the incident with Kohli. Elgar said "Anyway, so realized that de Villiers found out what he did and went up to him and said 'Bud, why are you spitting at my teammate bud? That's not on', and two years later, he (Kohli) calls me aside playing (in) South Africa and said, 'Can we go have a drink at the end of the series'?..... I want to just apologize for my actions.”

Elgar further added that Kohli apologized for his actions & they both drank till 3.00 in the morning. Interestingly, Kohli was the one to catch-out Elgar during Elgar’s last test match in South Africa in December 2023 before his retirement from international cricket. Virat did not celebrate the catch and hugged Elgar tightly when the teams returned to pavilion. Kohli even even gifted one of his signed Test jerseys to Elgar. What do you think about Kohli's behavior?
