Ravi Shankar Prasad:‘No Economic Slowdown in India’

After facing severe criticism for his controversial comments, Ravi Shankar Prasad took to Twitter to apologise and withdraw his statement.

Ravi Shankar Prasad is the Minister of Law and Justice of India. On 12th October  he said that the Indian economy is doing very well.He said that on 2nd October, which is a national holiday, three Hindi movies were released. These three movies earned Rs 120 crore in total. If the economy is not doing well then how can the films earn so much money in one day? 

The International Monetary Fund is an organisation that helps countries achieve economic growth. The IMF said that, in the world, India and Brazil are the two countries that are facing a lot of economic problems. There are no jobs for people. The automobile industry is facing many problems and many employees are getting fired. Prices are continuously increasing as well. 

Many were very angry with Prasad’s comment. Political leaders and people all over India said, how could he make such a silly statement when there are so many problems in India.On 13th October, he then tweeted and said that his statement about movies making a profit and the economy were wrong. He should not have said that. And has withdrawn his statement.
