Rajasthan: 3 Deaf Arrested in Deaf Girl Gangrape Case

Now there is an update. The girl through an interpreter said that she was in Vivek Park in Hiran Magri when the 4 accused forcefully took her away, gangraped her and escaped. The girl identified the accused, 3 of them are Deaf and studied with the girl in school. 1 of the accused was a hearing person. After the medical examination and on the statement of the girl, the 3 accused were arrested on 29th October 2022. They were presented in court and have been sent to remand for 3 days. However the 4th accused is still absconding. The head of Nari Niketan, a government home for women, Renu Chaubisa said, “The Deaf girl is 5 months pregnant. She is still in the hospital for treatment of her leg. After discharge she will be shifted to Nari Niketan. The family would be asked about whether they want to continue the pregnancy or abort. Based on the decision of the mother and the Deaf girl, they would do the needful.” Chaubisa added that the accused should be given the strictest punishment and should be hanged.
Meanwhile, in the second week of October, in another case of gangrape, a 14-year-old deaf girl was raped by three youth in Andhra Pradesh. The victim, a student of class 6, was in her native village as her school was closed for a week for Dussehra. The girl’s parents, who are daily- wagers, had left for work while the girl was alone at home. When the girl was sleeping, the accused, including a 26-year and two minor boys aged 14 and 16 years, of the same village, broke into the house and raped her. The accused later fled after seeing her father coming home. The girl’s father, who saw the trio fleeing from his home, rushed inside and found that his daughter was raped. The girl’s mother lodged a complaint and a case was registered. The accused were later arrested.
