Rahul Gandhi landed in Nepal's capital city on Monday 2nd May afternoon and was staying at the Marriott Hotel. However, this is not a secret visit. He was in Kathmandu for a wedding, it had already been announced and reported. Bhim Udas, a former Nepali ambassador to Myanmar, has claimed that he had invited Rahul Gandhi to attend his daughter's wedding. According to reports, Udas' daughter Sumnima, is a former CNN News reporter and who is now getting married.
A video of Rahul Gandhi in a nightclub with a friend started getting viral across different social media sites. This video was posted by the BJP on social media and they then trolled Rahul Gandhi by saying that Rahul Gandhi is busy partying even when the congress party is having a tough time. While the date of the video is not sure, it is highly possible that the video clip is from Gandhi's ongoing Nepal trip. Also most of the congress leaders were seen defending Rahul Gandhi, calling it his right to attend a private function.
In the video, Rahul Gandhi is seen talking to this woman. People soon started making assumptions on who this woman was. Many people say that the mystery woman is China's Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, who has been working in Kathmandu since 2018. However, the identity of the woman is not yet confirmed.
