Punjab Law College Shooting: Student Kills Classmate and Shoots Self
A 19-year-old law student was shot dead by her classmate inside a college classroom in an alleged case of one-sided love, after which the accused shot himself and remains critical.
A shocking shooting incident took place on 9th February at Mai Bhago Law College in Tarn Taran, Punjab, and a video of the incident is now going viral on social media.
The incident happened around 9 am when first-year law students were sitting in their classroom and waiting for their lecture to begin. Among them were 20-year-old Prince Raj Singh and 19-year-old Sandeep Kaur. Suddenly, Prince stood up, took a pistol out of his bag, and shot Sandeep in the head. She died on the spot.
After firing at her, Prince shot himself in the head. He survived but was seriously injured and was rushed to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Students present in the classroom said everything happened within seconds. Sandeep was sitting with her friend when Prince took out the gun. Her friend tried to help her but soon realised she had died. Panic spread in the classroom and students ran outside. CCTV footage later confirmed that the attack happened very quickly, leaving no time for anyone to react.
Police investigation suggests that the incident may be related to one-sided love. According to classmates, Prince liked Sandeep, but she did not feel the same and had told him she was already engaged. Some students said he had been troubling her for some time. It is reported that Prince proposed to her on 8th February, but she rejected him.
Sandeep’s family is in deep shock. Her mother said the college first informed her that her daughter had been injured in a minor fight. When she reached the campus, she found out that Sandeep had been shot. Sandeep came from a humble family and was one of seven siblings. Her father had passed away two years ago, and she was working hard to build a better future for her family.
Police have seized the weapon, collected CCTV footage, and taken the phones of both students for investigation. They are also checking how Prince got the pistol. His father is a serving Army or CRPF soldier and had returned to duty a few weeks before the incident. Police are examining whether the gun belonged to his father or was obtained from somewhere else.
The investigation is still ongoing, and more details are expected in the coming days.
