PM Modi Visits 58 Countries & Spent Rs 517.82 crore

Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan spent ? 517.82 crores to visit 58 countries.

Members of Parliament raised questions about PM Modi’s travel expenses in the Rajya Sabha. Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan in a written statement responded by saying, Prime Minister had visited 58 countries since 2015. He visited the United States, China, and Russia - five visits each. He also visited Singapore, Germany, France, the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka. The total expenditure on these visits was ? 517.82 crores. The Prime Minister's last trip abroad was to Brazil (in November last year) to attend a to BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit. 

PM Modi has made no visits in 2020 because of the global lockdown over the coronavirus pandemic. The visits also helped strengthen economic relations, trade, and investment, technology, defense collaboration, etc. In December 2018 the government had said over ? 2,000 crores had been spent on the PM's foreign visits since June 2014 - these included expenses on chartered flights, maintenance of aircraft, and hotline facilities.
