PM Modi Asks Indians to Save Every Drop of Water

The uneven monsoons and the extreme weather due to climate change has lead to an extreme water shortage in the country. Now it has become very important to save water. On Sunday 30th July, PM Narendra Modi conducted his first monthly “Man Ki Baat” radio broadcast after being re-elected.  PM Modi said that now it has become very important to protect and increase India’s water resources. He had launched the  Swachh Bharat Programme] when he was elected for the first time. Now he has asked the citizens of India to work together to save water just like they did to clean the country. PM Modi said that out of the total rainfall received, only 8% of the water is used in the country. 

Modi has made three requests to the citizens. He wants to all the people in the country to work hard to save and protect water. He wants to make it a mass movement just like the cleanliness drive. People must Implement various water conservation methods such as rainwater harvesting, etc. Sharing information about people and NGOs to people working on water conservation. So that the problem can be correctly researched. 

Modi encouraged the citizens to make list of new creative ideas that will help to save water. He told people to share their ideas on social media using the hashtag  #JanShakti4JalShakti. He said that this water problem is a big challenge for India. However the country can fight it if we are united and work hard.
