Pakistan Ex-President Musharraf to Hang

Pervez Musharraf, the Ex-President of Pakistan and the Chief of the Pakistan Army has been given the death penalty by a special court in Pakistan.

Pervez Musharraf was the Ex-President of Pakistan and he was also the Chief of the Pakistan Army. He has been given the death penalty by a special court in Pakistan. This is the first time in the history of Pakistan that a former army chief has been handed a death sentence. In 1999, Musharraf was the leader of the Pakistan Army. He used the power of the army and removed the Pakistan President Nawaz Sharif from Power. He then appointed himself the President of Pakistan and also the Chief of the Pakistan Army.

For 8 years he ruled the country. In 2007, Between 3rd November and 15th December, 2007 Musharraf said that since Pakistan was in danger from terrorists, he declared an Emergency in Pakistan. During this emergency, he said the rules of Pakistan’s Constitution would not be used. Special rules would be imposed to manage the country. After 15th December 2007 he removed the emergency and restored the Constitution. But he then passed many laws in the Parliament to protect himself from all his wrongdoing.

In 2008, Musharraf participated in the elections but he lost. In 2013, he started a new party called All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) but he only won one seat in the parliament. These elections were won by Nawaz Sharif who was a big rival of Musharraf because Musharraf had removed him from the post of President and taken power. Nawaz Sharif became the President of Pakistan and ordered Mussharaf to explain why he imposed Emergency in Pakistan. Sharif said Musharraf had betrayed Pakistan and had not followed the rules in the Constitution.

A case was filed in the Pakistan court in 2013. The prosecution lawyers gave all proofs about Musharraf.

In 2016, Musharraf then requested to travel to Dubai for medical reason. But he never came back from Pakistan. Right now he is living in Dubai. Musharraf can now appeal in Pakistan’s SC. If the SC feels he should hang, then Musharraf will be brought back to Pakistan to Hang. His lawyers keep saying that Musharraf is not keeping well and can’t come to Pakistan court.
