Nashik: 12 Year Old Boy Traps Leopard in an Office Cabin

A CCTV video of a 12-year-old boy smartly escaping and trapping an invading leopard in a wedding hall’s office of Malegaon, Nashik has gone viral on the internet.

Wildlife animals encroaching in villages, cities and human settlements is nothing new in India. We all find it fascinating to watch how the wildlife animals often tigers & leopards enter society or buildings and how they’re removed from there. The latest such incident comes from Nashik, Maharashtra.  It was around 7am of 5th March 2024 in Malegaon, Nashik. A 12-year-old boy named Ahire was sitting on a bench near the door of the front room of the Sai Celebration wedding hall and playing games on his mobile phone. Suddenly, he saw a leopard walking towards him. He got frightened but stayed calm. However, the leopard did not notice Ahire and passed right in front of him. As soon as the leopard passed, Ahire immediately got up, carefully exited the premises and quietly shut the door to trap the leopard inside the office cabin. The whole incident got recorded in the wedding hall’s CCTV camera. The video of the same has gone viral on the internet with viewers getting scared and appreciating Ahire’s courage simultaneously. Ahire is the son of Sai Celebration’s security guard. After he locked the leopard, he ran to his father and told him about it. His father then immediately informed the owner of Sai Celebration, Anil Pawar, who then contacted the Forest Department. The forest officer reached the site and pulled down the shutters of all the entry-exit points of the wedding hall. They called a rescue team from Nashik City, who came, tranquilized the leopard and rescued it. They identified the leopard as a 5-year-old male.
