Nagpur: Woman Smoking at Paan Shop Kills Man for Staring

A 24-year-old drunk woman named Jayashree Pandhare, along with her 3 friends allegedly stabbed 28-year-old Ranjit Rathod, father of 4 daughters to death for staring at her at a local paan shop in Nagp

A shocking incident has rocked the local community in Nagpur. A 24-year-old woman named Jayashree Pandhare, along with her 3 friends has allegedly murdered a 28-year-old man. The man has been identified as Ranjit Rathod, a father of 4 daughters. On the night of 6th April 2024, a drunk Jayashree went to a local paan shop for a smoke on Manewada Cement Road with her friend Savita Sayare. She bought a cigarette and started smoking. Ranjit was also present at the shop and was allegedly staring at Jayashree continuously. Jayashree felt offended by this and started shouting at him. Ranjit had also recorded a video of Jayashree blowing smoke circles towards him and hurling verbal abuse,  reportedly. This further escalated into a heated argument between them. Ranjit also retaliated and exchanged abuses with Jayshree. Angered by the verbal fight, Jayashree called her 2 male friends - Akash Raut and Jeetu Jadhav to confront Ranjit. But he left the paan shop for his home by then. On his way home, Ranjit stopped at a beer shop to buy some beer in Mahalaxmi Nagar.  All three (Jayashree, Akash, and Jeetu) followed Ranjit and stopped him. They fought physically with each other and soon the fight turned violent. Enraged Jayashree brutally stabbed Ranjit multiple times to death with a knife and then fled the crime scene with Akash & Jeetu. Local CCTV cameras captured the whole incident. The locals informed the Nagpur police who started searching for the four friends. According to the reports, footage from different local CCTV cameras showed Jayashree and her friends going to Duttawadi area and later to Mohopa area. The Nagpur Police have arrested Jayashree, Savita & Akash. They are searching for Jeetu and investigating the case. Senior inspector Kailash Deshmane said that during the search in Dattawadi, police uncovered multiple objectionable materials and drug-related photographs on the phone of one of the accused. The police have also located a retired government employee who was also present at the paan shop and witnessed the initial fight between Jayashree and Ranjit. The witness also told police that the same paan shop attracts many anti-social elements of the society as customers late at night. Senior inspector Kailash Deshmane ensured that the Nagpur Police is using eye witness’s statement, the CCTV footage, and Ranjit’s phone video to build and investigate the case further.
