61-year-old BJP leader and former Central Minister Manoj Sinha has been appointed as the lieutenant governor of Jammu & Kashmir. His appointment was extremely sudden. He was appointed after G C Murmu resigned on 5th August. He will be the first politician to be appointed LG of J&K. He studied at Banaras Hindu University. Sinha is a three-time MP, and also an engineer. He was in charge of the communications ministry and was the Minister of State of Railways. This shows that he has good experience in infrastructure development. He’s known for his relaxed manner and will help to normalize the situation in J&K. Sinha arrived in Srinagar soon after his appointment was announced and will take the oath on 7th August. He has a good relationship with PM Modi and is known for getting things done. However, Sinha will face many difficulties in J&K. Development tasks are not easy in J&K because of terrorists and leaders who are fighting to separate J&K from India.
