Man Paralysed After Getting Massage, Is the Viral Video True?
A viral video showing a barber causing paralysis during a head massage was revealed to be fake, but real health risks from neck-cracking during massages remain a concern.
A viral video recently circulated on Facebook, causing shock and concern among netizens. The video showed a male customer allegedly getting paralyzed after the barber broke his neck during a head massage at a salon. The video quickly gained millions of views, thousands of likes, and sparked hundreds of comments. Many users highlighted the dangers of unqualified barbers, the potential health risks of head massages, and even made jokes about the situation.
However, media outlets soon started fact-checking the video, and their findings revealed that the incident was not real. Upon investigation, they discovered a tag under the video that read, "Watch more original videos by Sanjjanaa Galrani," an actress from the film industry. When the media checked Sanjjanaa’s Facebook page, they found that she had uploaded the same video on 7th November 2024.
Further investigation led them to the original source of the video, which was uploaded on 9th November 2024 on the YouTube channel “3RD EYE.” This channel creates scripted videos on various topics for educational and entertainment purposes. The description of the video confirmed that it was entirely fictional and meant for entertainment and educational purposes only.
Although this specific incident is fake, there have been real cases in the past where people suffered serious health complications after getting neck massages or neck-cracking from barbers. These procedures can cause long-term damage to neck joints, muscles, nerves, or surrounding tissues. A notable example was reported by The Times of India in 2017, where a man named Ajay Kumar suffered nerve damage after a barber cracked his neck during a massage. He had to be put on a ventilator due to the severity of the injury.
Experts have warned that people should always be cautious when getting massages, especially neck-cracking, from untrained barbers. It’s important to seek certified professionals to avoid any serious health risks.
While the viral video may not be real, the underlying message about the potential dangers of improper head massages remains an important reminder for everyone. Always choose certified professionals to avoid any accidents or injuries.
