Kanpur: Photo of Man Sitting On Paneer Goes Viral

A viral image of a man sitting on a pile of paneer in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has sparked a debate about the cleanliness of non-branded paneer production.

While many households prepare their own paneer, local dairies provide a convenient source of paneer by weight. Here's a picture of your favourite food that has caught the attention of netizens and left them saying "Eww." The image featuring a man sitting on a pile of paneer to drain out the excess water has gone viral. There was also a container that collected the excess water from the paneer. The image reportedly comes from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The viral post was shared on X by a user named Azhar Jafri who wrote, “Never buying non-branded paneer after seeing this.” He was taking a dig (mocked) at non-branded paneers which allegedly have cleanliness concerns. However, people didn't like that he mocked locally-made products and many suggested that the same applies to branded ones too. Mixed opinions were shared in reaction to the tweet. Jafri, however, stood by his remark and shared a video of paneer being manufactured in a “hygienic" way at Udaipur’s Paras Dairy. Taking note of the incident, many remarked that home preparations are the best. They suggested that one can't easily trust outside food, "Paneer is very easy to make at home, ghar ka best hain." Since the picture was uploaded, it has attracted thousands of views. This isn't the first time that unsanitary paneer production has come to light. Authorities seized over 2,000 kg of paneer prepared in unhygienic conditions from two milk dairies in Maharashtra in 2019.  What do you think about this? Tell us in the comments.
