Is US President Trump Planning an Attack on Venezuela?

The U.S. has attacked warships, jets, and Marines near Venezuela after striking a suspected gang boat. Critics fear Trump’s real plan may be about Venezuela’s vast oil reserves.

Is America Preparing for War Near Latin America?

Tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela are rising quickly. President Donald Trump has sent fighter jets, warships, and over 4,000 Marines near Venezuela, warning of possible military action.

The situation began when the U.S. military destroyed a boat in the southern Caribbean Sea. That boat was linked to Venezuela’s dangerous Tren de Aragua gang, known for drug smuggling, violence, and human trafficking. In the strike, 11 suspected gang members were killed. Trump called it a decisive step against “narco-terrorists.”

But the U.S. didn’t just treat the gang as criminals — it treated them like terrorists and used military force. Soon after, two Venezuelan fighter jets flew close to a U.S. warship, and Trump warned: “Any jet threatening U.S. ships will be shot down.”

In response, the U.S. deployed 10 F-35 fighter jets and 4,000 Marines near Venezuela’s coast. When asked if he plans to strike Venezuela, Trump replied, “You’re going to find out,” triggering global fears of war.

Critics in the U.S., including Senator Rand Paul, say the attack was unjustified because it was unclear if the destroyed boat really carried drugs. Meanwhile, Washington accuses Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro of running a narco-terror network and has even announced a $50 million reward for him.

Many believe Trump’s real motive is Venezuela’s oil. In 2023, he said the U.S. should have taken over Venezuela, which has the world’s largest oil reserves. This raises the question: is the U.S. preparing for war or planning to secure oil?
