“Period. End of Sentence” won an Oscar in the Documentary Short Subject category.The movie is based on a man named Arunachalam Muruganathan from Tamil Nadu, who worked very hard to spread awareness behind the problems of using unhygienic cloth during periods.

He was the inventor of low cost sanitary pads which helped millions of women in rural India.The film shows the problems Indian women face, during menstruation and aims to remove the stigma behind menstruation. The 26-minute movie shows the journey of girls installing a pad machine in a village called Hapur in northern India.  

The film was produced by Guneet Monga, who has produced movies such as “Gangs of Wasseypur”, “The Lunchbox” and “Masaan”. The film was directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi.
