India Legends Win the Road Safety World Series

India Legends won the Road Safety World Series, a T20 cricket competition having retired cricketers.

The Road Safety World Series or RSWS, is a T20 cricket competition having retired cricketers organised by the Road Safety Cell of Maharashtra to raise awareness about road safety. The series featured notable retired players from different countries, who were selected to play again for their respective countries in this series.  Ravi Gaikwad the chief of RTO, Thane and the Konkan region and Road Safety Cell in [Box 08 Maharashtra was the founder of the Road Safety World Series. The Road Safety World Series was approved by the BCCI. 

The first edition of the tournament began in March 2020. 4 matches were played and after that due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the remaining seven matches were rescheduled later. Instead of starting afresh in 2021, the organizers opted to resume the previous edition. Earlier the tournament in 2020 started in Mumbai and was set to take place across venues in Mumbai and Pune. But due to the covid situation the entire remaining tournament in 2021 was shifted to Raipur, Chhattisgarh. 

The teams were India Legends, Sri Lanka Legends, South Africa Legends, West Indies Legends, Bangladesh Legends, and England Legends. Initially it was Australia Legends opted out due to the covid situation so then Bangladesh Legends and England Legends were added to the tournament. The final of the tournament was played between India Legends and Sri Lanka Legends on 21st March 2021. India Legends won the final match and became the winners of the Road Safety World Series. 

Yuvraj Singh was one of the star performers of India Legends as the highest six-hitter, with 17 maximums from seven matches. Yuvraj shared a video on Instagram where he can be seen dancing his way into the hotel as the staff give him a guard of honour, holding up long-handle pans to imitate swords and a song from the blockbuster hit Baahubali can be heard playing in the background.
