India Celebrates the Inauguration of Statue of Unity

The Statue of Unity built as a tribute to Sardar Patel, will be unveiled by PM Narendra Modi today at Gujarat’s Narmada district.

Sardar Patel was a leader who played a major role in India’s freedom struggle. He was a leader who was committed to the welfare of farmers.

The Statue of Unity is built as a tribute to the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Statue is the world’s tallest statue at 182 metres. The statue itself is 157 m and along with the base on which it stands reaches the height of 182 m.

It is designed by Indian sculptor Ram V Sutar.

It took 250 engineers and 3400 labourers 3 years 9 months to complete the construction. The cost of the statue is 2979 Crore which was mostly raised by the Gujarat Government

This statue built as a tribute will be dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today from 10:00 AM onwards at the Sardar Sarovar Dam, Kevadiya Village, Narmada, Gujarat.
