IMA Shocked Over Patanjali’s Lies About Coronil
PATANJALI’S DIVYA Coronil has received certification from AYUSH Ministry as per WHO norms as a drug that can be used as “supporting measure in Covid-19” and as an immuno-booster.
PATANJALI has said that the ‘DIVYA Coronil Kit’ made by them has received a CoPP certification from AYUSH Ministry and that it can be used as “supporting measure in Covid-19” and as an immune-booster. CoPP certificate means the medicine is of top quality and can now be exported to 158 countries. They also said that Coronil has been recognised as a medicine for coronavirus by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The announcement was made at a press conference by Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev. He also released a booklet which were research papers that proved Coronil’s effectiveness to fight Coronavirus.
The press meet was also attended by Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. The WHO on Friday said in a tweet, “WHO has not reviewed or certified the effectiveness of any traditional medicine for the treatment COVID-19.” The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has sharply criticized the government for promoting such an "unscientific" medicine for COVID-19. The IMA said Dr. Vardhan is the health minister of India. How can he "falsely fabricated, unscientific product."
The IMA also said they are shocked that Patanjali is saying that WHO has given certification for their medicine. They said the country "needs an explanation," If Coronil was effective against COVID-19, why is the government spending Rs. 35,000 crore for vaccination, the IMA questioned. Patanjali Ayurved Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna issued a clarification by saying that: “The CoPP certification for Coronil was issued by the DCGI, Government of India and not the WHO.”
