IMA Files Complaint Against Baba Ramdev

Netizens after a video went viral in which Baba Ramdev is seen mocking COVID patients.

Ever since the pandemic started, there have been many whatsapp messages and videos spreading about how to protect from COVID-19. Sadly a majority of these do not make sense. A video clip of Baba Ramdev has gone viral on social media. This video was part of one of his LIVE sessions on channel Aastha, as part of his 'Yog Gram' series but the date as to when this 'live' show aired is unclear. Recently in a video Baba Ramdev said, “The universe is filled with oxygen. God has given us so much free oxygen around us. So I do not understand why people are complaining that there is no oxygen. So, I do not understand why people are complaining that there is no oxygen for COVID patients. Everyone is running around looking for cylinders but they have forgotten that they have two cylinders naturally in their bodies. It is their two nostrils.” In the end of the video he said people are simply "spreading negativity" by saying that there are no beds in the hospitals or space in the crematoriums.

When this video went viral on social media, people were furious over Baba Ramdev’s insensitive statements. Indian Medical Association national vice-president Dr Navjot Singh Dahiya has submitted an application against Ramdev and his associate Acharya Balkirishna to Jalandhar Police. Dr Dahiya said, “In the video, Ramdev is seen mocking Covid victims for not breathing properly.  Ramdev deliberately tried to misguide people by saying that doctors are giving too much medicines to COVID patients which is causing deaths. Actually doctors are working hard but he is spreading wrong information and creating panic among people. This is why I have filed a complaint.”
