Idols of Hindu & Jain Gods Placed in Vegas Nightclub

Foundation Room nightclub at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas has hurt religious sentiments, by disrespecting statues of various faiths.

Foundation Room nightclub at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas has placed statues of Hindu gods like Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Saraswati etc and Jain God in the nightclub. Recently social media users had shared images of a statue of Lord Mahavira, the founder of Jainism at the nightclub. In the picture people could be seen touching the statues, posing with it and disrespecting it. Jain leader Sulekh Jain said, “The Pratima of Lord Mahavira belongs to a temple for veneration and not to be misused or mishandled by clients of a night club.” He added that the hotel should donate the statue to a Jain temple. Other images also went viral. In the image, the statue of Lord Ganesha was placed in an area 

where alcohol was being served.

Many people became angry on social media and demanded the nightclub to remove the idols and issue an apology to Jains & Hindus for disrespecting their faith. After these images went viral, Religious leaders from five faiths (religions) demanded the hotel to remove the statues representing Hindu and Jain deities. After the anger and objection of the people, the Foundation Room on Wednesday 24th June gave a statement announcing that they would remove the statues. They also apologized for hurting sentiments. The Foundation Room said that they were removing the statue of Mahavira from their premises. However, in the tweet, they did not speak of the disrespect towards Lord Ganesha statue which has been placed at the bar.
