A man who died on a bus in China has tested positive for a virus more dangerous than COVID-19 that has very similar symptoms. The name of the virus was Hantavirus. The man was on a bus with 30 other people. This happened just after China started removing their lockdown. The incident has sparked panic across China, with #hantavirus trending on social media.

Experts told the public that this is not a new virus. It can only pass through humans in rare circumstances. It is not like Covid-19, which has spread all over the world. Swedish scientist Dr Sumaiya Shaikh tweeted: 'The #Hantavirus first emerged in the 1950s in the American-Korean war in Korea in the Hantan river.’

Exposure to the urine, droppings or saliva of infected rodents can result in the virus being transmitted, as can bites from infected rats and mice. She said that, Human-human transmission is rare. Please do not panic, unless you plan to eat rats.'
