Gujarat: PM Modi Performs Underwater Puja in Dwarka

PM Modi performs underwater puja & offers prayers in the Arabian Sea at the submerged ancient city of Dwarka on 25th February 2024.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently made waves, not just figuratively but literally, during his two-day visit to Gujarat. The highlight of his trip was the inauguration of India’s longest cable-stayed bridge, 'The Sudarshan Setu', which spans a whopping 2.32 km, linking the Okha mainland with Beyt Dwarka. This architectural marvel, completed at a cost of ?979 crore, promises to significantly enhance connectivity in the region.

Following the bridge inauguration, PM Modi paid homage at Gujarat's renowned Lord Krishna temple, Shri Dwarkadhish, where he received a sacred idol of Lord Krishna from the temple priests. However, it was his unique gesture thereafter that captured the nation's attention.

In a spiritually significant move, PM Modi ventured into the depths of the Arabian Sea at Panchkui beach, donning scuba gear, to offer prayers at the underwater ancient Dwarka City. According to legend, this submerged city was once the splendid domain of Lord Krishna himself, lost to the ocean depths upon his departure from earthly realms.

In a symbolic act of reverence, PM Modi concluded his underwater prayers by offering a peacock feather, paying homage to the timeless grandeur and devotion associated with Lord Krishna.

The prime minister, in his social media post, described the experience as "divine" and spoke of feeling a profound connection to an ancient era of spiritual richness. His underwater rituals, captured on video, have since gone viral across social media platforms, stirring curiosity and admiration alike.

Notably, PM Modi's underwater venture also marks the beginning of an exciting initiative by Gujarat Tourism. An upcoming underwater submarine program promises to offer visitors a glimpse of the mesmerizing marine life and the mystical remains of the ancient Dwarka city. This initiative is poised to attract tourists from far and wide, providing a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural and historical tapestry of the region.

As PM Modi's dive into history sets ripples of fascination across the nation, the promise of Gujarat's underwater treasures beckons to all, inviting us to embark on a journey of discovery and wonder.
