Gujarat: Girl Commits Suicide As Parents Say No to Play Garba

A young girl in Rajkot tragically committed suicide after being denied permission to play garba due to illness during Navratri.

In Rajkot, Gujarat, the festive spirit of Navratri turned into a tragedy for the Valla family when their daughter, Bhumika Valla, allegedly took her own life after being denied permission to play garba.

The Valla family, who live in Subhash Society in Rajkot, was preparing to celebrate Navratri when the unfortunate incident occurred. Bhumika, a BBA student in Vadodara, had returned home on 1st October 2024 to enjoy the festival with her family. However, she fell ill with a high fever.

On 2nd October 2024, Bhumika expressed her wish to play garba in her society, but her parents advised her to wait until she fully recovered. This led to an argument, and Bhumika felt deeply upset when her parents refused her request.

Later that day, when her parents went out, Bhumika hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her room using a dupatta. When her parents returned and found her, they immediately rushed her to the hospital. Despite receiving treatment for two days, Bhumika passed away on 4th October 2024.

The Rajkot Police have registered the case as an accidental death and are continuing their investigation.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the emotional struggles young people can face, even during times of celebration.
