The Indian Union government issued an official written security warning by categorizing Samsung Galaxy phones as ‘high risk’ on 13th December 2023.

The Indian government issued an official written security warning by categorizing Samsung Galaxy phones as ‘high risk’ on 13th December 2023.The security advisory was issued by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). It highlighted multiple vulnerabilities that are impacting millions of Samsung Galaxy phones’ both new and older models and said that Samsung Galaxy phones are easier to get attacked and hacked. It also pointed out the urgent need for existing Samsung users to promptly update their phone's operating system (OS) & firmware. According to the report, CERT has said that Samsung Mobile Android OS versions 11, 12, 13, and 14 are the threatening softwares that have many weak spots.

These weak spots act as an opening for cyber attackers and hackers. And after digitally entering your phone, the attackers can:

- Steal your phone's secret code like SIM pin

- Give commands to the phone

- Peek into private AR Emoji files.

- Change the clock & settings.

- Access the phone's files

 - Steal important & sensitive information

- Control the phone like a puppet

- Take over the whole phone

Therefore, CERT & the government have advised all Samsung Galaxy Phone users to immediately update their device's operating system (OS) and firmware. The warning also said that failing to do so can make our Samsung Galaxy phones provide hackers the opportunity to attack our phones and misuse our personal & private data. Samsung too has released a fix to these threats and asked its users to update their phones at the earliest.
