French Actress Removes Clothes During Award Function

French actress Corinne Masiero sent shockwaves during France’s César Awards ceremony, by stripping naked on stage.

The world is still going through the corona virus pandemic. Many livelihoods have been lost till now. Especially the most affected is the entertainment industry which is hampered by social distancing and also lack of audience. French Prime Minister Jean Castex had ordered the closure of cinemas and theaters from October 30th and decided not to reopen in the near future. French actress Corinne Masiero sent shockwaves during France’s César Awards ceremony.  Masiero first appeared on stage in a donkey costume and splashed with fake blood. She said, “I have another costume.” She then removed the donkey headgear to reveal a red dress.

She then said that this is the final custom that I have and removed it as well. Masiero said that she is completely naked and it is the same as the French art. Due to the rules imposed by the Prime Minister to control the spread of the coronavirus, there is no art left in the country. She was standing on the stage stripped naked. Across her breasts and torso was written, “No culture, no future.” On her back there was a message for Prime Minister Jean Castex: “Give us back art, Jean.”

As ceremony host Marina Fois scrambled to gather Masiero’s clothes off the stage floor, Masiero said, “I don’t think I’ll be invited next year, we’ll see.” When Masiero reappeared, she was back in the red dress.

Masiero did this to create awareness and in support of artists and technicians across the country who have been impacted by work stoppages caused by the Covid crisis and the government’s response. Several actors and technicians have been protesting and urging to reopen public places with proper social distancing protocols. The actress’s gesture has been widely appreciated from the art fraternity in France.
