FIR Filed Against Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina

Ranveer Allahbadia faces backlash and legal trouble for an offensive joke on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, sparking widespread outrage.

Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, has landed in hot water after making an offensive comment during his appearance as a guest judge on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show, India’s Got Latent. The incident, which occurred during a contestant grilling session, has led to widespread backlash, legal action, and a significant drop in his YouTube subscribers.  

The Controversial Remark

During the show, Allahbadia asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop?” The remark, intended as a joke, was met with laughter from the audience and judges at the time. However, when the episode went live, the clip went viral on social media, sparking outrage.  

Public and Professional Backlash 

Netizens criticized Allahbadia for his insensitivity, with many calling his comment disrespectful to Indian culture and family values. Memes mocking him flooded social media, and he lost over 1 lakh YouTube subscribers within days. Singer B Praak, who was scheduled to appear on Allahbadia’s podcast, canceled his appearance, calling the remark “pathetic” and against Indian culture.  

Political and Legal Fallout

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and several MPs condemned the comment, with Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi vowing to raise the issue in Parliament. Police complaints were filed in Guwahati and Mumbai against Allahbadia, Raina, and the show’s organizers for promoting obscenity. The Mumbai Police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.  

Allahbadia’s Apology 

On 10th February 2025, Allahbadia issued a public apology, admitting his comment was inappropriate and unfunny. He acknowledged his lapse in judgment and promised to do better, requesting the removal of the offensive segment from the episode.  

What’s Next?

The Centre has issued a notice to YouTube to take down the controversial video, which has already been blocked in India. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police have summoned Allahbadia and Raina for questioning.
