Doctor Kills Deaf Son in Maharashtra
Prominent doctor Mahendra Thorat of Rashin in Karjat taluka died by suicide after injecting his wife and two children with drugs.
Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery (BAMS) doctor named Mahindra Thorat (47) was living in Rashin Village in Karjat, Maharashtra. The doctor was extremely famous in the village and has his own hospital. He was very helpful and would always treat the people in the village. On 20th Feb Morning, a staff from the doctor’s hospital went to Thorat’s home because the doctor did not come for work. When the staff of the hospital went to his house and found the doctor had committed suicide. Thorat first killed his wife Varsharani (42) and their two sons Krishna (age 16) and Kaivalya (age 7) by injecting them with a poisonous substance. After this he hanged himself. Thorat had left a suicide note in which he said his son named Krushna was Deaf. He said, ““Krishna cannot hear. We have been suffering for many days. Krishna does not care about anything. However, he never speaks. We cannot bear his grief. Therefore, everyone has taken this decision with consent. No one should be held directly or indirectly responsible for this. We don’t think it’s appropriate to do so, but there is no cure. Forgive us,”
Krishna was a cricketer. He was sent to a sports institute in Pune for education. He underwent a lot of treatment so that he could be able to hear. However, it did not succeed. He was also given hearing aids. It wasn’t working either. In the note Dr Thorat also said that all his property should be sold off and the money must be donated to any institute that is working with the Deaf. People in the village are extremely shocked over the incident.
