Delhi Police Files FIR Against Greta Thunberg

Greta Thunberg's controversial tweet on a "toolkit" for supporting the farmer protests was cited in a case filed on Thursday by the Delhi Police.

Greta Thunberg is from Sweden. She is 18 years old. She is an environmental activist and has been encouraging leaders of various countries to change their government rules to help protect the environment.  This week she tweeted supporting the farmers who are protesting in India. The Delhi Police on Thursday  4th February, filed a case against Thunberg, accusing her of "criminal conspiracy and promoting enmity on the grounds of religion."

In response to the FIR, Thunberg tweeted:

I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violation of human rights will ever change that. #FarmersProtest. The Delhi Police later confirmed that the FIR was not against Thunberg. Actually Thunberg had tweeted and shared a ‘toolkit’.

What is a toolkit?

A toolkit is a booklet or document created to explain a cause or issue. Thunberg had shared a toolkit about the farmers' protest that happened on 26th January. The toolkit contained details of the protests and various information. The toolkit even asks people to tag Prime Minister Narendra Modi, agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar. It details how and where the protests should be done outside Indian Embassies abroad, media houses, government buildings and even Adani-Ambani offices. According to Delhi police the toolkit which was being shared on social media was created by pro-Khalistani forces. The Delhi Police clarified and said the FIR was filed against the creators of the toolkit and not Greta Thunberg. The toolkit has now been deleted.
