Delhi: Man Dies of Heart Attack While Playing Lord Ram on Stage

Actor playing Lord Ram dies of a heart attack on stage during Ramleela in Delhi.

Delhi is known for hosting over 1,000 Ramleela events and hundreds of Durga Puja pandals during Navratri. It is a time of joy and celebration across the city. But this year, one such Ramleela event turned tragic when the actor playing Lord Ram suddenly died on stage.

The 56-year-old actor, Sushil Kaushik, was performing at the Ramleela event organized by the "Jai Shri Ramlila" committee at Vishwakarma Nagar, Delhi. Sushil, a property dealer by profession and a devoted actor and singer, had been playing the role of Lord Ram since 1987. He was one of the founding members of this committee, which started in 1977.

On the night of 5th October 2024, Sushil and other actors were performing the famous "Sita Swayamvar" act. During the scene, Sushil suddenly experienced severe chest pain. He left the stage midway and went backstage, where he collapsed.

His family, including his wife and son, along with some committee members, immediately rushed him to the hospital. Doctors tried to save him and put him on a ventilator, but after an hour, Sushil was declared dead.

A video of the incident showing Sushil performing and then abruptly leaving the stage has gone viral on social media.

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj commented on the incident, suggesting that the death might be related to the COVID-19 vaccine. He mentioned that many similar cases of heart attacks in younger individuals have been reported across India post-vaccination.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock, turning a night of celebration into one of sorrow.
